Brett Favre business partner Jake VanLandingham, founder of the drug company Prevacus, pleaded guilty to illegally on Wednesday of receiving more than $2 million of federal funds as part of the ongoing Mississippi welfare scandal.

On Wednesday, VanLandingham was released on a $10,000 bond as he awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to a single count of wire fraud.

Front Office Sports reports he could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison.

In November of 2022, two drug concussion companies, including Prevacus, that were supported by the Hall of Fame quarterback allegedly “overstated their NFL connections and exaggerated the known effectiveness of their drugs during efforts to raise money.”

That report came on the heels of another report that PreVPro, a concussion cream Brett Favre backed, tested its product on and killed at least six dogs.

It was later reported that the concussion drug was tested on 63 children during three flag football camps.

One of Prevacus’ inhalable concussion treatments, drug PRV-002, ended up being purchased by Odyssey Health amid doubts the inhalable drug would even work.

Brett Favre, who was a spokesperson for Prevacus, denies any wrongdoing and still has not been charged with any crime.

However, in a December 2018 text to Jake Vanlandingham, the president of Prevacus, Favre wrote, “I believe if it’s possible she [Nancy New] and John Davis [former head of the Mississippi Department of Human Services] would use federal grant money for Prevacus.”

New, the former executive director of the nonprofit Mississippi Community Education Center, pled guilty to federal and state charges of of bribery, fraud against the government, and mail fraud in April 2022.
