Iowa Offensive Coordinator Brian Ferentz Refuses To Wear Any Hawkeyes Gear After Being Fired

Even though Brian Ferentz will not return to his role at Iowa after this year, the son of the head coach continues to serve as the team’s offensive coordinator during the 2023/24 season. He is a lame duck.

Ferentz, 40, announced that he will step down from his post following the Hawkeyes’ bowl game after a historically awful run. His offense’s ineptitude helped to break the record for lowest “expected point total” in college football history on multiple occasions.

Las Vegas set the line for Saturday’s game against Nebraska at Over/Under 25.5 points. Total.

Iowa has been largely unable to score points. Ferentz is in charge of leading his team to the end zone and repeatedly failed. As a result, this is his swan song.

Since being fired, which was presented as a mutual parting of ways, Brian Ferentz has refused to rep the university during games. He used to wear Iowa-branded clothing on the sideline.

Not anymore!

Ferentz has worn all black, without any team logos, in each of the last three games against Rutgers, Illinois, and Nebraska. Here is an example from earlier in November:

Considering that Ferentz wore the Iowa logo for every game prior to his preemptive ouster, the change seems to be deliberate. If he truly chose not to wear any school-issued gear, it is equally as petty as it is funny.

For a grown man to hold a grudge of such nature is undeniably ridiculous. Get over it.

However, from a different perspective, seeing Ferentz go out of his way to neglect the school that already cut him loose is a pretty self-respecting move that you have to appreciate. He doesn’t want to associate with a university that doesn’t want to associate with him. He just wants to win games.

That, while completely fair, is still rather hilarious.
