It’s been quite the whirlwind for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. He was the 262nd and final pick in the draft eight months ago, but now he is starting for arguably the league’s most storied franchise.

And, “Mr Irrelvant” has been great in that role. The 49ers have been rolling since he started filling in for an injured Jimmy Garoppolo. He’s played basically three full games for San Fran and after Thursday night has won all three.

It’s actually incredible to watch Kyle Shanahan’s offense operate with Purdy. They’re running the ball well, and that helps. But, he’s carrying out all the fakes and reads that are crucial in that offense to perfection. If you can do that, you can succeed in Shanahan’s scheme.

And, this play is a great example of it. This Brock Purdy touchdown pass was key in their 21-13 win that clinched the NFC West over the Seattle Seahawks.

With his exceptional performance, he made history.

Brock Purdy joined Aaron Rodgers in elite company Thursday

Aaron Rodgers is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. And, Purdy joined him in an elite company.

Brock Purdy’s 17/26 for 181 yards and two touchdowns and no interceptions gave him an impressive 117 rating. Those numbers aren’t insane, but he doesn’t have to be in that offense. He just can’t screw it up and needs to make the plays that are there for him. The 10-4 49ers host the Commanders on Christmas Eve.
