Pro Bowl running back Kareem Hunt is set to make a comeback with the Cleveland Browns.

The Browns are signing Hunt to a one-year contract worth $4 million, as reported by NFL Insider Tom Pelissero.

Hunt, 28, had been a part of the Browns’ roster for the past four seasons before becoming a free agent this offseason. The running back had explored other options but ultimately opted to return to his former team following the season-ending injury to star Nick Chubb.

Last season, Hunt showcased his versatility by amassing 468 rushing yards with four total touchdowns while also contributing in the passing game with 35 receptions for 210 yards.

Hunt’s yards per carry saw a drop from 4.9 in 2021 to 3.8 in 2022.

Despite fielding offers from other teams, including the Colts and the Saints, Hunt decided to wait for the right opportunity and chose to continue his career with the Browns.

Even with Hunt back on the team, the Browns intend to utilize former backup Jerome Ford, who impressed with a 106-yard performance on Monday night against the Steelers.

Kareem Hunt should have a chance to take over the starting role if Ford struggles, because the veteran has more experience. It’s not completely clear yet how the team will split carries during the season.
