Bryce Underwood has yet to take a snap at the University of Michigan but he’s already cashing in on NIL opportunities. This week, he revealed an awesome use of that new income.
The Wolverines‘ passer surprised his former high school security guard with an awesome gesture. Underwood posted video footage of his reveal to social media on Thursday.
Bryce Underwood was the most highly sought after quarterback in the 2025 class. A 5-star prospect, he was considered the No. 1 overall player in the most recent recruiting cycle.
His recruitment was filled with drama before signing day. He’d had a longstanding commitment to LSU but later flipped to play for his hometown program in Ann Arbor. That flip came following his numerous attempts to quiet the rumors and express loyalty to the Tigers.
“I have nothing against LSU,” he said after the fact. “It came down to my family and the best situation for me… Education is a big thing for me. Michigan has probably one of the best educations in the college, period, outside of the Ivy League… It was the right decision for me to be successful outside of football and in football.”
The decision allowed him to stay closer to family and friends. It also came with a significant payday.
Michigan donors reportedly forked up $12 million to keep Underwood home. Soon, he’ll lead the Wolverines on the field in 2025. Underwood isn’t waiting for the season to start to make an impact.

He was able to do so thanks to a partnership with Feldman Chevrolet. The reveal was made public on the QB’s Instagram page.

Underwood wanted to give back to those who helped him on his way up to Michigan. NIL gave him that opportunity!
We’ve been used to hearing horror stories in the world of name, image, and likeness. Player payment has resulted in non-stop tampering, transfer portal movement, and a shift away from the game college football fans have grown to love.
But there is a positive side to NIL. Bryce Underwood showed the impact that can be made with these off-the-field opportunities. Hopefully we’ll see more players share acts of unselfishness with their new earnings.
