LIV Golf has been the source of plenty of drama as it limps toward the end of what could end up being its final season. Bryson DeChambeau was responsible for the latest dose, as a reporter says he was kicked off the driving range for having the nerve to film him practicing.

The 2026 LIV Golf season was supposed to wrap up with the team championship in Michigan next week, but that event was officially called off on Monday ahead of what will now be the last tournament of the year, which will unfold at The Club at Chatham Hills outside of Indianapolis.

That cancellation confirmed weeks of rumors linked to the financial difficulties the league has been facing since Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund decided to turn off the money spigot earlier this year, a move that has reportedly left players waiting to receive their winnings as multiple vendors have filed lawsuits in a last-ditch effort to get the money they’re owed.

There is also growing doubt that the outside investor who purportedly swooped in to save the league with an injection of cash will actually end up being the savior LIV Golf desperately needs.

As if that wasn’t enough, there’s speculation that Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton have already made the decision to move on and attempt to rejoin the PGA Tour. That would be a big loss for an organization that’s still clinging to its most marketable golfer in the form of Bryson DeChambeau, who didn’t do himself any favors on the PR front ahead of this week’s event.

Bryson DeChambeau reportedly referred to members of the media as the “mafia” before kicking one of them off the driving range

DeChambeau is firmly the biggest name in the LIV Golf stable, and he has been its most vocal supporter while suggesting he’d be more interested in focusing on his sizable YouTube channel than returning to the PGA Tour if it ends up collapsing.

He’s had a pretty rough year when it comes to non-LIV Golf events, as he missed the cut at The Masters, the PGA Championship, and the U.S. Open before tying for 14th at the British Open (an event where he threw a bit of a temper tantrum after being hit with a two-stroke penalty over a fairly clear-cut rules violation).

He’s also had a fairly contentious relationship with the media since the start of 2026, and that has not changed heading into this week’s tournament at Indianapolis. On Wednesday, Ryan French, the reporter behind Monday Q Info, said a member of his team kicked him off the driving range, which transpired a day after he greeted a trio of media members by referring to them as the “mafia.”

French said he was filming from behind the ropes (someone who watched the scene unfold confirmed he was “doing nothing out of norm”), although he credited DeChambeau for going out of his way to call him afterward for a 20-minute conversation where they were seemingly able to hash out some of their differences.

Based on the ratings it’s generated and its impact (or lack thereof) on the overall zeitgeist, most people won’t be too heartbroken if LIV Golf goes away. With that said, it’s going to be hard not to miss the drama it’s been able to generate if it does.
