BYU Pulls Extremely Soft Move By Requiring Students To Remove ‘Horns Down’ Troll Vs. Texas

BYU students were fully prepared for Texas basketball coach Rodney Terry’s arrival to Provo on Saturday. Unfortunately, the university (?) made an extremely soft decision to eliminate the most fun part of college hoops.

Regardless of what party was to blame for the move, it was a real shame.

Terry, in his second year with the Longhorns, threw a temper tantrum after his team’s upset loss to UCF on Jan. 27. Multiple players on the winning team held up the ‘Horns Down’ hand sign as both teams converged upon each other for the handshake line.

That did not go over well with Terry, who made a big stink. He believes that ‘Horns Down’ is very disrespectful. His feelings were hurt.

Of course, when a head coach of an opposing school says one thing, that only encourages the opposition to do the exact opposite. Terry wanting to eliminate ‘Horns Down’ adds fuel to the fire.

There should be even more ‘Horns Down’ when Texas comes to town than there was before the head coach lost his mind. It is standard operating procedure for any good fanbase!

The Cougars have a great fanbase in Provo. They’re always loud and always rowdy without the added boost of caffeine or booze.

BYU’s student section greeted Terry with t-shirts in the front row that read ‘H-O-R-N-S D-O-W-N.’

However, students were forced to remove the shirts during the first media timeout.

This is a bummer for the Cougs. Where BYU began the game as the perfect example of exactly what to do as a fan, the university quickly became even softer than Terry.

Ranting about ‘Horns Down’ is embarrassing. Giving into that rant by punishing your own student section over something as mundane as a brilliantly-executed harmless troll is even more so.

Tough look for BYU.
