Is there trouble brewing between Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark and head coach Stephanie White?

The two were spotted in a heated exchange on the sidelines during the Fever’s recent 100-84 loss to the Portland Fire. But Clark says that there’s no beef between the two, and that the interaction between the two was just them letting their competitive sides show.

However, White has faced allegations from fans that she’s sabotaging Clark with her usage early in the 2026 WNBA season.

Caitlin Clark Says She Has No Beef With Fever Head Coach Stephanie White

“First of all, (it’s) two people being competitive. Two people who really wanted to win,” Clark told members of the media. “I think of lot of those things happen all the time, and I know that there’s a camera on me, and that’s how it’s gonna be.

“But there’s a lot of people out there in the media, or on TV that think they know a lot of things, and they’re just blatantly wrong about a lot of things. And I ride for Steph. I ride for these girls. Steph has my back more than anybody. Nobody in our locker room, or Steph, or our coaching staff thought twice about it.”

Breathe easy, Fever fans. It doesn’t sound like the sky is going to fall anytime soon, at least not as it pertains to Clark’s relationship with White or vice versa.

The critique of the interaction comes as no surprise, however. As Clark pointed out, everything she’s done since entering the WNBA has been under a microscope, and it will continue to be that way for the foreseeable future. If Indiana starts winning games with more regularity, those conversations will likely disappear far more quickly than they started.
