Caleb Williams suffered the worst loss of his college career as USC fell to Notre Dame in South Bend on Saturday. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner and presumed No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick did not get any help from a bad Trojans defense, and the offensive line struggled, but his performance was not any better.

There were moments of greatness in which the 6-foot-1, 216-pound quarterback played up to his potential. Williams completed 23-of-37 passes for 199 yards and a touchdown.

However, he also threw three picks.

Caleb Williams spent a large chunk of the night scrambling for his life. Notre Dame’s secondary played lights out and locked down the USC receivers when it mattered most.

That doesn’t excuse three picks.

Sam Hartman became an instant legend in South Bend and could not stop throwing “Fight Off” in the face of anyone nearby. Williams and the Trojans went home sad.

Although the Irish were favored in the game, the fans — especially students — were on the field as soon as the clock hit zero. The storm was on!

Storming the field is a blast. Regardless of the record and regardless of the score, hopping the fence and rushing out to celebrate a big win with the players on the field is something that should be encouraged.

It is part of what makes college football so special. Anyone who says otherwise hates fun.

However, a pair of photos by Michael Reaves of Getty Images shows exactly what not to do during the storm. There’s no need to be obnoxious.

For the most part, Notre Dame and USC’s staffs did a great job of getting the Trojans into the locker room safely as fans poured onto the field. One sleeveless Irish fan ruined it.

He ran over to Williams after the loss and shoved a camera in the quarterback’s face for a selfie.

USC’s staff had to push him away from their star quarterback, who looked miserable.

Keep the celebration to you and yours.

Wear sleeves. Don’t force a selfie with the losing quarterback.

Don’t be that guy.
