Cam Newton is making his last-ditch effort to return to the NFL. The Super Bowl starting quarterback has played in just eight games since 2021 with his last professional win coming back in the 2020 campaign.

Newton was once considered one of the league’s top threats under center, going 15-1 and winning an MVP with the Carolina Panthers in 2015. Unfortunately, injuries derailed his career which led to his being out of the NFL completely last season.

That hasn’t stopped the passer from trying to get back. He’s been adamant on his belief that there are not 32 starting quarterbacks in the league more talented than he is.

He looked to prove that on Tuesday when he attended Auburn’s Pro Day event.

Tell me how these randoms keep getting jobs. Don’t worry about it, I’m gonna show ’em. I can’t wait to show you… There ain’t 32 mother******s better than me.

That announcement received immediate criticism from those in the sports world. Most notably, Shannon Sharpe bashed the comeback attempt.

He didn’t let it deter him.

Cam Newton took the field for NFL scouts, showing off his insane arm talent. He casually dropped 60-yard dimes throughout his performance, wowing many in the audience.

But while he can still heave bombs, a few errant throws landed the passer mixed reviews from fans online.

Here’s what everyone was saying about the Pro Day performance.

Some were impressed, with one person saying, “Cam Newton launching BOMBS!” Someone went as far as to tag Colts owner Jim Irsay and persuade him to pick Newton up, commenting, “You know what needs to be done.”

Unfortunately, far more people focused on the negative.

This fan wrote, “Sheesh man. I was always a huge Cam fan, but it’s honestly time to give it up.” Another follower said, “Like I said, not top 32.”

We’ll soon see if Cam Newton showed enough to interest any NFL suitors.
