Cam Ward is among the most sought-after players to enter the transfer portal this offseason. The former Incarnate Word and Washington State quarterback is an electric factory.

There is a chance that Ward could forgo his final season of eligibility and declare for the NFL Draft. However, it seems most likely that he will finish his college football career at one of two schools.

Miami tapped Rick Ross to help get Ward to play for the Hurricanes during an expensive dinner at a famous South Beach steakhouse earlier this week. Florida State left a strong impression during his visit to Tallahassee on the back end of his trip to the Sunshine State.

His father, Calvin, spoke with Brendan Sonnone of Noles247 about their time with the Seminoles.

From my perspective, it went very well. I was impressed. I was impressed with the town, the facilities, the coaches [and] just the overall hospitality that they showed us […]

I think that one thing that really stood out, they went into a lot of the X’s and O’s with Cameron and vice versa. He went into a lot of terminology stuff with them. That really stood out to me.

According to the patriarch, there is one thing that is of most importance to his son. Ward wants to play for an offense that throws the ball, with talented receivers, and an offensive line that can protect him.

Pretty straightforward.

Although Calvin did not mention the elephant in the room, NIL money is another factor. Ward is expected to draw offers north of $1 million for what is, essentially, a one-year rental.

Both Miami and Florida State have pretty well-backed collectives so that wouldn’t be an issue.

It is possible that other programs could get in the mix. At this point, though, that seems unlikely.

Especially after an extremely telling admission about Ward’s upcoming calendar.

He looked at possibly taking another trip, like a day or overnight, but that’s not going to happen.

Cam Ward is not going to take another visit. He might hop on a video call, but the traveling is done.

That is huge news!

Assuming that things stay how they are, the Hurricanes and Seminoles are in a two-team battle. Well, three, because the NFL remains an option.

Still. As of right now, if Ward is going to play another year on the collegiate level, it will be in Florida.

Miami and Florida State — two bitter rivals — must scramble to present the most enticing package to their potential future quarterback before the dead period begins on the 24th. This will be exhilarating!
