As the 2023 NFL season approaches, the Arizona Cardinals find themselves undergoing a profound cultural transformation under the guidance of their new head coach, Jonathan Gannon.

The era of Kliff Kingsbury came to an end after the former coach’s 4-13 record in the 2022 season led to his dismissal.

Now, the team is embracing a new philosophy and approach that emphasizes maturity, responsibility, and attention to detail.

The cultural shift is not subtle; players are finding themselves immersed in a newfound sense of accountability and professionalism.

One of the cornerstones of this cultural makeover is punctuality, with Coach Gannon insisting on strict adherence to timekeeping.

No longer is a minute or even thirty seconds tardiness accepted; players are expected to be prompt and respectful of their teammates’ and coaches’ time.

Offensive tackle D.J. Humphries expressed how the changes have been jarring, describing it as a “Culture shock.”, via Arizona Republic’s Bob McManaman.

There has been no gradual shift, but an immediate demand for players to step up and align with the team’s new values.

Linebacker Zaven Collins echoed the sentiment, emphasizing that players must take personal responsibility without constant guidance: “You can’t be 30 seconds late to a meeting,” Collins said.

Running back James Conner highlighted the newfound sense of togetherness and accountability within the team.

Although the Cardinals may not currently possess the most talented roster, Coach Gannon is laying the groundwork for future success.

The cultural transformation serves as a solid foundation on which the team can build, grow, and perform at their best once they acquire the right pieces.
