Celtics’ Marcus Morris Is Feeling Himself–Rips The Pacers And Raptors For Poor Defense On LeBron

Nobody on planet Earth is feeling himself more than Marcus Morris is at the moment.

Not only did the Celtics forward post his first career playoff double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, the 28-year-old looked to do the impossible: rattle the greatest player in the world on the defensive end.

Morris was tasked with being the primary defender on LeBron James on Sunday and held him to just 15 points on 5-for-16 shooting and seven turnovers,  just hours after getting scoffed at for dubbing himself one of the best LeBron defenders in the NBA.

Before their matchup, Morris locked himself in his man cave studying LeBron’s every move throughout these playoffs–watching plays on Synergy, downloading clips on YouTube, projecting Cavs games on his flat screen, etc.

One of Morris’ main takeaways wasn’t about LeBron, but about his competition in the first two series.

“Them dudes can’t guard. That’s what I did pick up,” Morris told the Washington Post of the Pacers and Raptors defenders.

The double down is a bold move for Morris and I don’t think there is a basketball fan in the world right now that isn’t expecting a massive bounce back game from LeBron.

“I’ve got a great sense of the way they played me [Sunday] and how I’ll play going into Game 2,” James said, describing Game 1 as a “feel out game.”

James is 8-6 in postseason Game 2s following a loss. The Celtics take on the Cavaliers in Boston tonight at 8:30 pm EST.
