Los Angeles Chargers center Corey Linsley is facing a bit of a setback.

According to Daniel Popper over at The Athletic, Linsley is heading to the injured reserve list due to what’s being described as a “non-emergent heart-related medical issue.”

That’s not the kind of news you want to hear about a key player.

Initially, the team had him listed as having an “illness” on the injury report, but now it’s clear he’s going to be out of action for at least four weeks because of this heart issue.

We’re not sure how serious it is just yet, but Popper’s choice of words with “non-emergent” suggests it might not be as dire as it sounds.

The Chargers themselves haven’t detailed on the specifics of Linsley’s medical condition.

Linsley is going to consult team doctors and check in with specialists to get a better handle on what’s going on.

For a bit of context, Linsley’s a pretty big deal for the Chargers. They inked him to a five-year, $62.5 million deal back in 2021, which was a significant move during Brandon Staley’s early days as head coach, per Popper.

Corey’s been a team captain for three seasons straight and hadn’t missed a snap in 2023.

It’s tough to see a key player like that sidelined, but the Chargers will have to wait and see how it plays out.
