Charles Barkley racked up an impressive number of accolades during an NBA career that earned him a spot in the Basketball Hall of Fame before embarking on an equally impressive journey as a broadcaster thanks to his role on the Dream Team that comprises the cast of Inside the NBA on TNT.

With the exception of the championship ring that he’s routinely reminded he failed to secure on that show, there aren’t many things Chuck hasn’t managed to achieve—hell, he even fixed his infamously atrocious golf swing—and it’s safe to say he’s more than earned the right to do whatever he pleases with his life with a little over a year to go before his 60th birthday.

Last year, Barkley revealed he’s already planning on retiring from the television game when his current TNT contract comes to an end, as he told Pat McAfee he has no interest in renewing the deal after it expires when the NBA season wraps up in 2024.

On Tuesday, Barkley confirmed his plans when he spoke to members of the media on a conference call where he reiterated he’s planning on taking full advantage of the years he’ll have left instead of spending them in a studio.

Chuck joked that he’ll ideally take his last breath while out fishing or walking the links but couldn’t stop himself from poking fun at Shaq in the process, as his co-host caught an hilarious stray courtesy of the barb Barkley added at the end of his comments.

This man is a national treasure.
