Billboards Trolling Charles Barkley Have Started Popping Up In Galveston

The NBA postseason has spawned a fairly unexpected feud involving Charles Barkley and the city of Galveston, Texas, and it has been taken to the next level courtesy of some billboards taking aim at the Round Mound of Rebound.

If you keep tabs on Charles Barkley, you likely know he already had beef with another city in The Lone Star State prior to the start of this year’s NBA playoffs thanks to his long-running disdain for San Antonio and the “big ol’ women” who reside there.

However, he opted to turn his attention approximately four hours east while discussing the state of the Pelicans during their first-round showdown with the Thunder.

When New Orleans fell into a 3-0 hole following two consecutive blowouts at the hands of Oklahoma City, Barkley said they didn’t even deserve to go to Cancun in the wake of their impending elimination while joking they should be punished by being sent to Galveston and subjected to its “dirty a– water.”

It didn’t take long for Chuck to apologize after Beyoncé’s mother (who was born in Galveston) called him out—nor did it take him very long to start mocking the city again right after issuing that mea culpa.

Galveston’s tourism board eventually chimed in and tried to play nice, but the same can’t be said for whoever is responsible for some billboards that have started popping up in the area taking aim at Sir Charles.

According to TMZ, at least three billboards calling out Barkley have appeared in the Galveston area in the wake of his comments. One of them pokes fun at his frame by asserting “You’ve never turned down any of our great food,” while another reads “Our water is cleaner than your golf swing” (which would’ve been a pretty good zing before he managed to fix his infamously terrible form).

It’s unclear who paid to have the billboards put up, but I respect them for going to great lengths to defend Galveston’s honor.
