The Las Vegas Aces, led by four-time MVP A’ja Wilson, are undeniably the preeminent franchise in the WNBA today, having won three of the last four league championships.
So that makes it all the more surprising that the organization offered a lifeline to noted problem child Chennedy Carter ahead of the 2026 season. And it appears they may already regret that decision.
Carter is undeniably talented. The former No. 4 pick in the WNBA Draft was named to the All-Rookie team in 2020 and averaged 17.5 points per game on 37.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
However, Carter lasted just two seasons in Atlanta before she was traded to the Los Angeles Sparks following an indefinite suspension after she allegedly tried to fight a teammate who questioned her attitude.
Carter then lasted just one season in LA before being waived, and she spent the 2023 season playing overseas. In 2024, Carter returned to the WNBA with the Chicago Sky, but lasted just one season in the league before returning to China for the 2025 season.
Now, Carter is back in the WNBA yet again, and seemingly back causing trouble as well.
A’Ja Wilson Expresses Her Frustration With Chennedy Carter On Social Media
Following a recent loss to the Dallas Wings, Carter took to social media to take a shot at Dallas rookie Azzi Fudd after a fan claimed that Fudd outplayed her. Carter also seemingly took exception to her lack of playing time in the game.
“Not to mention I made (Fudd’s) ankle touch the ground, but y’all can hollar (sp) at me when my leash is off too. It’s completely unfair even though statistically wise it’s not even close,” she said on Threads.
Rook got them shook? Chennedy complaining she’s on a leash? Aces locker room drama already?😭 pic.twitter.com/lSMVfH5L0o

“I miss my old life,” Carter then said in another post.
So, where does Wilson come in?
A fan replying to Carter told her that she should improve her sportsmanship and stop taking shots at a rookie (Fudd) who avoids trash talk and is generally complimentary of her opponents.
A further look shows that Wilson liked the post that told Carter to grow up.
Ultimately, A’ja Wilson is infinitely more valuable to the Las Vegas Aces than Chennedy Carter. So if Carter doesn’t clean things up, it seemingly won’t be long until she’s back out of the league.
