White Sox’s 270-Pound Pitcher Lance Lynn Has A Hilarious Take On Conditioning In Baseball

Major League Baseball is officially back and players have reported to their respective locations for spring training. After a longer offseason, some athletes may choose to alter their preseason routine, but not Lance Lynn.

Lynn, 34, was traded to the White Sox prior to the 2021 season and is set to spend his second year with Chicago this year. He recorded an 11-6 record with a 2.69 ERA last year, which earned him his second All-Star nod.

At 6-foot-5, 270 pounds, Lynn spoke with the media earlier this week. When asked whether he would have to change anything about his preseason “ramp-up,” he said no.

He has been throwing multiple live sessions a week throughout the winter to get ready for the season. Lynn is ready to go.

And when it comes to conditioning, nothing changed in Lynn’s routine. He doesn’t have one to begin with.

The big-armed, big-framed pitcher said that he has never been a fan of conditioning. He doesn’t see any need to get in exquisite shape beyond his live throwing every week.

In fact, if the sport ever gets to where it requires him to be well conditioned, Lynn doesn’t want to play anymore. He offered a hilarious quote to the media earlier this week.

“No I’m not big on conditioning ever,” he said. “Do you have to run across home plate to get anybody out? Once we start doing that I’m done.”

Clearly, after coming off of a career year in 2021 at 33 years old, what he is doing is working— no need to change a thing!
