Colin Kaepernick is very familiar with Jim Harbaugh. The former NFL quarterback spent four years with the current head coach at the University of Michigan in San Francisco.

They had a lot of success together!

Kaepernick was thrust into the starting role during his second year with the 49ers and went 5-2 en route to Super Bowl XLVII. He and Harbaugh went 12-4 in 2013 with an NFC Championship appearance.

A drop off to 8-8 saw the head coach get fired in a surprising move after his fourth season at the helm. Harbaugh has been in Ann Arbor ever since and won a national title on Monday.

That may soon change. It is expected that Harbaugh will entertain offers to return to the NFL this offseason and could be back in the league sooner than later. We’ll see.

Either way, there are multiple professional organizations with interest in hiring the Wolverines’ head coach as their own. Harbaugh will have a chance to lead an NFL team next season, if he wants to.

Kaepernick believes that it would be a home run hire for whichever team can get his former coach. He issued a concise statement in support of the move to Mike Freeman.

Harbaugh is the one coach you call when you want to compete for a championship. Period.

Enough said!

Whether you like them or not, Kaepernick is right about Harbaugh. He won 12 games at Stanford, made three College Football Playoff appearances and won a national title at Michigan, and went 44-19 in four years in San Francisco. The 49ers reached the NFC Championship in each of the first three seasons, with a Super Bowl appearance.

Perhaps most notably, Harbaugh chose to stick with Kaepernick at quarterback in 2013 even though Alex Smith was healthy. It was a very bold move that drew a lot of criticism.

But… the 49ers won 12 games!

No matter what happens with Jim Harbaugh over the next few weeks, Colin Kaepernick has his back.
