When you think of Washington State, the phrase “football powerhouse” probably doesn’t come to mind.

However, for the past 15 years, the school has managed to dominate one hallowed aspect of the sport: College GameDay.

In 2003, a Cougars flag made an appearance in the background of a broadcast, and since then, fans have traveled to colleges across the country with the sacred tapestry in tow for over 200 straight weeks.

After a seemingly endless wait, College GameDay will make its way to Pullman this weekend when Washington State faces off against Oregon.

City officials are attempting to do what they can to prepare for the inevitable madness— including declaring a state of emergency to make sure fans can be ferried around— but they’re far from the only people who are prepping for the weekend.

According to SB Nation, dispensaries in Pullman are also preparing for a mad rush once the celebration kicks off and are stocking up on weed to make sure anyone in search of some marijuana products will have their needs met.

The outlet spoke to the manager of Kush21, who said the dispensary is anticipating a big boom in business:

“We’re expecting Friday and Saturday to be huge days for us.

We’re expecting big sales. We’re gonna have a lot of product coming in today to get us all stocked up, because we are anticipating a huge weekend.

“It’s just like a passion for it around here, for Coug games. Everyone likes a little drinking, a little smoking, just having a good time partying.”

Bars in the area also expecting business to pop and are stockpiling booze ahead of the weekend to ensure fans don’t drink the town dry.

If I’ve learned anything from this, it’s that I apparently need to go to a football game at Washington State.

It sounds like Pullman knows how to party.
