Colorado Athletic Director Makes Hypocritical Tweet After Deion Sanders Loses Star To Transfer Portal

The transfer portal giveth, and the transfer portal taketh away.

But apparently, Colorado AD Rick George isn’t super happy about that second part.

George took to Twitter late Wednesday night to share his displeasure with transfer portal rules after news that star running back Alton McCaskill had entered the portal.

Thank the AG’s that filed the temporary restraining order,” tweeted in response to a fan who was disappointed about the McCaskill news.

George’s tweet comes in response to a new NCAA rule allowing multiple-time transfers without a player having to sit out. The rule went into effect this week after multiple courts granted temporary restraining orders that blocked the NCAA from restricting transfers.

McCaskill came to Colorado last offseason as a transfer from Houston, but he was limited due to injuries with the Buffaloes.

Deion Sanders and the Buffs hoped he could be part of a high-powered offense in 2024. But it appears that won’t be the case.

However, both Colorado and Sanders have no problem bringing players in via the portal. In fact, the Buffs are one of the most active teams in the country in the portal.

“That PORTAL open like the Red Sea!” Sanders tweeted on Tuesday. Colorado landed six players from the portal that very same day.

Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders also got in on the act.

So it’s abundantly clear that Colorado has no problems taking transfers. But when players want to leave Boulder, it’s a problem for George.

It was all good when ‘we coming,’ but now that ”we leaving’ Colorado’s AD is taking a shot at a ruling allowing unlimited transfers,” one fan noted. “Colorado AG Phil Weiser is among those suing the NCAA over the Sherman Act. (Rick George) hired Prime, whose limited success on the field came bc of transfers.”

Can’t have your cake and eat it too, Rick.
