Deion Sanders wasted no time firming up his offensive line after what appeared to be a promising inaugural season in Boulder came to a disappointing end. However, it appears one man who claimed he was joining the team was lying about transferring—for the second consecutive year.

One of the biggest issues the Colorado Buffaloes faced this season was the lack of protection on the offensive front, and when their campaign came to an end following their 4-8 finish, Deion Sanders once again hopped into the transfer portal in an attempt to address that issue.

Coach Prime is clearly hoping to reduce the number of times Shedeur Sanders gets throttled after dropping back for a pass next year, and it only took him a week to snap up five players from other schools on top of securing the talents of Jordan Seaton, a five-star high school recruit who committed to the program.

However, it turns out the aforementioned quintet might only actually be a quartet based on what Colorado assistant coach Andrew Zimmer had to say about the matter.

On December 5th, OL Amari Ward announced he was leaving Jackson State to play for the Buffaloes, but when On3 included him in a graphic about the linemen Colorado had acquired, Zimmer bluntly stated “no one on our staff has talked to him” in a now-deleted tweet where he asserting he’d lied about transferring for the second year in a row.

Ward had initially said he planned to accompany Sanders to Boulder after the head coach left Jackson State in 2022, but according to The Kansas City Star, he wasn’t admitted to the school when he applied for enrollment.

It’s unclear why Zimmer deleted the message in question, so while there’s a slim chance this could be chalked up to some sort of misunderstanding, it certainly sounds like Ward won’t be suiting up for Colorado next season.
