Back in October, Conor McGregor mysteriously announced his comeback to the UFC at a press conference in Moscow. Now it’s starting to look official, with ESPN reporting that Conor is scheduled to fight at welterweight at UFC 246, on January 18th, 2020 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
According to ESPN, Conor’s paperwork is signed for a return to the Octagon against Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone in a welterweight bout:
The UFC is close to finalizing a non-title welterweight bout between McGregor and Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, which will headline UFC 246 on Jan. 18 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. McGregor has signed his contract to compete on the date, White told ESPN.

Despite his numerous legal problems, Conor has been his usual chirpy self lately, saying he wants to fight 50 Cent and saying he wants a shot at the UFC’s new BMF belt.
This will be the third time Conor has fought at welterweight, previously fighting against Nate Diaz in 2016. Nate Diaz won via submission at UFC 196, with Conor winning via decision at UFC 202.
Certainly an exciting way for the UFC to start 2020 with a bang. We’ll see what happens next.
Meanwhile, get those ESPN+ PPV orders in for UFC 245 on December 14th, live from T-Mobile in Vegas.
