Despite still being one of the most famous and recognizable athletes in the world, UFC star Conor McGregor still has an uncanny knack of getting himself into unnecessary trouble.

According to a report from TMZ, the international UFC star was recorded on CCTV camera striking a man in his 50s in his hometown of Dublin, Ireland. While the altercation went down at The Marble Arch Pub in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday, April 6, video of the brief fight has only just surfaced.

Additionally, the Irish Mirror reported at the time of the incident that the Gardai — which is the state police of the Republic of Ireland — confirmed they were investigating an alleged assault.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror, a witness said that “there was a bit of a commotion, he [McGregor] was acting the mick and there was an incident.” It is believed that the victim turned down a free drink of McGregor’s Proper Twelve whiskey, leading to McGregor to lash out.

“There was a bit of a commotion, he [McGregor] was acting the mick and there was an incident,” a witness said.

“There weren’t many people in the bar at the time, there was drink involved. The man that was allegedly assaulted is from Ballyfermot and drinks in the pub a good bit.” [Irish Mirror]

Furthermore, a second witness told the Irish Mirror that someone approached the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion and told him that “the Russian battered you.” The Russian being referenced is Khabib Nurmagamedov, who defeated McGregor via submission at UFC 229 in Las Vegas on October 6, 2018.

The defeat at the hands of Khabib Nurmagamedov was McGregor’s most recent fight in the UFC octagon.

At the time of this writing, no arrests have been made and it is unclear if the investigation into the altercation remains ongoing.
