The Dallas Cowboys Are Making Big Coaching Changes After Disappointing End

Jerry Jones Is Once Again Running His Mouth About The Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys 2022 season felt all-too familiar. They played good football for much of the regular season, but once again faltered in the playoffs.

Their 19-12 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday meant they have not made the NFC Championship Game since 1995. When you consider their historical place in the sport and financial power, that is astounding.
Then again, when you design plays like this, you’re not going to win many football games.

But, owner Jerry Jones refuses to fire the GM that has been in charge of that long drought. That is, of course, also Jerry Jones.

He is making some coaching changes, though.

Here are more details on the changes the Cowboys are making, courtesy of Pro Football Talk.

As noted last night, all but four of the Cowboys’ coaches have contracts that expired following the 2022 season. Two of those coaches will not be back.

Via Mike Garafolo of NFL Media, senior defensive assistant George Edwards (pictured) and running backs coach Skip Peete will not return. Both have completed their three-year contracts.

Edwards arrived in 2020, with head coach Mike McCarthy. Edwards has worked as defensive coordinator with three different teams.

Peete also arrived in 2020. It was his second stint with the Cowboys. He also has worked as running backs coach for the Bears and Rams.

All this is great, but it doesn’t solve the biggest problem which is that Jerry Jones makes personnel decisions. Sorry, Cowboys fans.
