On Wednesday night, Ronald Acuna became the first player in MLB history to record 40 home runs and 70 stolen bases in a single season. The Braves outfielder swiped second base in the 10th inning to accomplish the feat, being honored by the team shortly thereafter.

Cubs announcers weren’t very happy with the game being stopped in the middle of the action, and they let that opinion be known on the air.

“We’re really stopping the game to do a highlight montage?” one member of the broadcast team asked.

“Can we get the base after the game? I mean, this is pretty absurd,” responded his partner.

For reference’s sake, Acuna is just the fifth player to join the 40/40 club. He sits all alone as the only player in the 40/50, 40/60, and now 40/70 clubs.

The crew obviously didn’t think that was worthy of the in-game celebration, and they quickly got blasted by fans on social media for their saltiness.

“Yeahhh 40/70 is kind of a big deal. Let us live please!”

“Why are announcers like this? It’s a historic achievement. Celebrate it.”

“It’s BASEBALL HISTORY. The Cubs announcers are pathetic crybabies!”

Luckily for the duo, they didn’t have to wait much longer for the game to end. The Braves walked it off on the very next pitch to hand the Cubs a second-straight loss.

Chicago’s playoff chances took a hit with the defeat as they’re now tied with Miami for the final wildcard spot. They’ll take on the Braves again Thursday in hopes of avoiding the sweep.

We likely won’t want to hear the commentary in the broadcast booth should that happen.
