Free-agent running back Dalvin Cook is reportedly not ‘willing to accept’ the current contract offer from the Miami Dolphins.

According to ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington, the Dolphins still remain interested in acquiring Cook’s services and still have a contract offer on the table out to him.

During an appearance on NFL Live, Darlington revealed that Cook may be seeking to generate additional leverage and interest from other teams in order to potentially increase the Dolphins’ offer. Although Cook remains intrigued by the possibility of joining the Dolphins, he is hesitant to commit to their current proposal.

Recent reports have indicated that both the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins have conducted extensive “Homework” on Cook, suggesting that they have a genuine interest in acquiring his services.

Furthermore, Cook is said to have received “Multiple offers” from various teams, which could further add to the decision-making process for the talented running back.

Cook, 27, was originally drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. After playing out his rookie contract, he inked a lucrative five-year, $63 million extension with the Vikings, that was set to keep him with the team through the 2025 season.

However, the Vikings surprisingly released him with two years remaining on his contract. Cook was set to earn base salaries of $10.4 million and $11.9 million over the next two seasons.

During the 2022 NFL season, Cook proved his worth on the field. He started in all 17 games for the Vikings, amassing an impressive 1,173 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 264 carries. Additionally, Cook showcased his versatility by contributing in the passing game, recording 39 receptions for 295 yards and two touchdowns on 56 targets.

As the negotiations continue, it remains to be seen whether Cook will find a more enticing offer from another team or if the Dolphins will revise their proposal to meet his expectations.
