The Denver Nuggets proved to be the better team in Game 1 against the Los Angeles Lakers after securing a 132-126 win.
It was back and forth late in the contest, but ultimately, Nikola Jokic proved to be the deciding factor.
Plenty of NBA fans enjoyed the game, however, Darren Rovell seemed to like it more than everyone else. So much so, that fans dragged him over his take about the Game 1 matchup.
Here’s what Rovell had to say about the Lakers-Nuggets first game of the Western Conference Finals. According to him, we “just watched was one of the greatest games ever played.”
People will dismiss it because it’s not an NBA Finals game, so the stakes weren’t as high, but what you just watched was one of the greatest games ever played.

If you had to take a step back after reading that tweet, I fully understand.
It was a solid game. Don’t get me wrong. But to call it one of the greatest games ever played? Far from it.
NBA fans were quick to call out Rovell for this wild take.
Not even remotely close. Dial it back buddy

Now I need to see what a level 10 hot take looks like.

Billy Madison for the win.

I don’t think the Lakers or Nuggets would even agree with Daren Rovell’s take on this game.
Darren. That was a borderline regular season game

Rovell definitely saw something after the postgame credits, right?
Was there a post-credit scene I missed???

Can a one-sided contest even be considered a good game? Nuggets fans might agree.
Darren, Denver took the lead 4-2 one minute & eight seconds into the game, and NEVER lost the lead.

At the end of the day, this actually should be a fun series. The Lakers found a way to get back into the game, but the Nuggets were able to keep them at bay.
It’ll be interesting to see how LA responds in the Game 2. If they can steal a win in Denver, then LeBron James and company could have a real shot to take the series lead in Los Angeles.
Tune into Game 2 on Thursday night at 8:30 P.M. Eastern.
