The running back position has been a hot topic this offseason as NFL teams just don’t value them nearly as much as they used to.

Multiple top name running backs are facing an uphill battle when it comes to contract negotiations but it sounds like other players are beginning to vocalize their support.

Recently, Las Vegas Raiders star receiver Davante Adams backed his teammate Josh Jacobs amid his contract talks going south.

During an appearance on the NFL Network, Pro Football Talk reports that Adams made sure to support Jacobs through and through.

The superstar wide receiver has been in the middle of contract negotiations before, so he’s offering some advice to his teammate.

Additionally, Davante Adams wants nothing more than for the Raiders to win. He believes to do that, the front office must make sure Josh Jacobs’ contract situation is resolved so he’s on the roster.

“If we really want to have a shot at winning the Super Bowl and having all the elite aspirations that we do, we’re gonna need that guy. So I’m praying that we can still figure something out, but also understanding where Josh is coming from and trying to coach him through it at the same time.”

As of now, Jacobs likely won’t be attending training camp this offseason. The team will officially begin training camp on Tuesday, July 25.

Not having Josh Jacobs in the lineup could be detrimental for this team. Especially considering he was the most efficient player on the offense last season.

He’s coming off a career year after rushing for 1,653 yards and 12 touchdowns. Clearly, he was a focal point for the offense.

With that said, it’s hard to argue against Davante Adams. If more teammates decide to show support for Josh Jacob’s, perhaps his contract situation can be resolved before the season starts.
