The new University of Colorado football head coach, Deion Sanders, has a lot of work to do after arriving in Boulder.

Deion brought some of his key players from Jackson State including Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. Interestingly, Travis Hunter recently accused an ACC powerhouse of tampering for contacting him before he hit the transfer portal.

Days later, Buffs head coach Deion Sanders is on the receiving end of similar accusations. Marshall University’s football head coach, Charles Huff, claimed Deion Sanders was contacting a transfer player who was already on the Marshall campus:

If it’s not loading, that tweet reads “On the Charles Huff presser. He says Deion Sanders contacted a transfer yesterday who is already on campus at Marshall and tried to talk him into coming to Colorado. Didn’t name the player, who Huff said is staying at MU.”

This tweet suggests Coach Prime might not have been aware the player was already on campus:

It’s not clear which specific player that Deion Sanders was after but the list of possible candidates is short.

Former BroBible writer and current Outkick writer Grayson Weir came up with a list of 9 Marshall Football transfers in:

  1. Colin Parachek — Quarterback from Morehead State
  2. DeMarcus Harris — Wide Receiver from Kentucky
  3. Mason Pierce — Wide Receiver from McNeese State
  4. Luke Soto — Tight End from UTEP
  5. Travis Geiger — Defensive Lineman from Coastal Carolina
  6. KeSean Brown — Linebacker from Appalachian State
  7. Tah Mac Bright — Linebacker from Incarnate Word
  8. J.J. Roberts — Defensive Back from Wake Forest
  9. Dominic Konopka — Long Snapper from Bowling Green

It could be any of those 9 players, theoretically. And it is worth noting that Charles Huff said ‘already on campus’ but didn’t necessarily specify ‘enrolled’.

If the players wasn’t enrolled yet at Marshall than Deion Sanders did nothing wrong. But it isn’t a great look for Coach Prime to be called out like this.

Deion Sanders didn’t have much time to put together a recruiting class at Colorado after arriving. The class he did compile ranked 44th according to 247 sports. That class included Travis Hunter via the portal. Meanwhile, On3 has Colorado’s transfer portal class ranked 11th with 21 transfers in and 11 transfers out.
