In a move that solidifies their commitment to wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, the Denver Broncos have exercised his fifth-year option, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Despite being the subject of trade rumors throughout the offseason, the Broncos have made it clear that Jeudy is a key piece of their future plans.

Jeudy’s performance in the 2021 season was somewhat disappointing, but he was able to rebound in 2022 and post career highs in multiple categories. He finished the season with 67 receptions, 972 yards, and six touchdowns, making him the top receiver on a struggling Broncos offense that ranked 32nd in the league in points per game.

The Broncos’ offense is expected to improve under new head coach Sean Payton, who joined the team after Nathaniel Hackett was fired. With Payton’s offensive expertise, there is reason to believe that Jeudy’s performance will continue to improve in the coming years.

Jeudy’s fifth-year option will earn him $12.987 million in 2024, and he now has the next two years to work out a long-term deal with the Broncos. It’s worth noting that Jeudy was taken two spots ahead of more productive Cowboys star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb in the 2020 NFL Draft. However, the Broncos seem to be confident in Jeudy’s abilities and potential, and are committed to keeping him in Denver for the foreseeable future.

Overall, the Broncos’ decision to exercise Jeudy’s fifth-year option is a strong indication that he is a key piece of their future plans. With an improved offense and a new head coach in town, there is reason to believe that Jeudy’s performance will continue to improve in the coming years.
