NFL reporter Dianna Russini’s rough week apparently also included a “daring rescue.” At least that’s what one report is calling it.

According to the New York Post, Dianna Russini was driving along a street in suburban Wyckoff, New Jersey, earlier this week when a Jeep crashed right in front of her. Local news site Patch reported that around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, a 17-year-old driving a Honda Civic turned onto the street and collided with a Jeep, flipping the SUV onto its side.

The driver of the Jeep was a 73-year-old Hawthorne man, according to Police Lt. Joseph Soto. There was also a dog inside the overturned SUV.

An eyewitness at the scene told the Post that before emergency services arrived, Dianna Russini stopped, got out of her vehicle, “ran out and had a tall man put her on top of the Jeep to open the door, and she and the other guy pulled the driver and his dog out of the Jeep.”

The 73-year-old Jeep driver complained of head and shoulder pain when the police arrived, and paramedics took him to a nearby hospital for assessment. A friend of the driver took the dog. It seemed to be in good health, as evidenced by a photo. Police also reported that the other driver sustained no injuries.

Dianna Russini’s wild week

After the New York Post released photos of Dianna Russini and New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel at an adults-only resort in Arizona, she decided to resign from her position with The Athletic.

Citing the “media frenzy” and “repeated leaks,” she said she wanted to quit rather than “lend it further oxygen or to let it define me or my career.”

Meanwhile, NFL reporter Crissy Froyd celebrated Russini’s resignation amid scandal, writing on X, “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.”

“We know who you really are and what you’ve been up to for years,” Froyd added. “It does so much detriment to women in sports who have done things the right way.”

Froyd was fired from her job at USA Today not long after her rant went viral. The media outlet said her comments did not reflect their “commitment to professionalism or uphold our principles of ethical conduct.”

Crissy Froyd would later double down, stating that she regretted “zero” of what she said and that she stands by it. “I feel I’ve been very transparent and did nothing wrong,” she added.

She later added in another statement that she is “incredibly proud of everything I’ve accomplished, and I do walk away with my head held high.”
