The moment is finally upon us.
Ben Simmons is returning to Philadelphia to take on his old team, the 76ers.
Simmons was dealt to Brooklyn a few weeks back in a blockbuster trade for James Harden. The move is already paying dividends for the Sixers.
The team is a perfect 5-0 with the lefty in the lineup. Harden is averaging 24.6 points per night since arriving to the City of Brotherly Love. Philadelphia has scored 120 points or more in each of those five wins.
Brooklyn, on the other hand, has yet to reap the benefits from their end of the bargain. Simmons hasn’t taken the court for the Nets, a theme that’s been consistent throughout the entire 2021-22 season.
Unfortunately, fans won’t get the luxury of seeing Simmons face off on the floor against his old team. They could, however, see some sort of tribute to the former first-round pick. At least if it’s up to head coach Doc Rivers.
Doc Rivers Suggests Making A Tribute Video For Ben Simmons, Fans Give Their Ideas
With Simmons coming back to Philly for the first time since the trade, head coach Doc Rivers suggested something a bit out of the ordinary. Especially considering the way things were left between the forward and his former teammates.
Rivers said that the Sixers should consider making a tribute video for Simmons upon his arrival to the arena.
#Sixers coach Doc Rivers says he thinks there should be a tribute video for Ben Simmons on Thursday against the #Nets.

Sixers fans didn’t necessarily share the same sentiment, though they were quick to offer their ideas of a tribute to Simmons.

It should be a highlight reel for the 2021-2022 season and it’s just a black screen https://t.co/1um6AitQHH
