Seattle Storm rookie Dominique Malonga is already causing panic across the WNBA. Players like Rickea Jackson don’t want to be the first player in league history to get dunked on.

The No. 2 overall pick could very soon be the one to make that happen!

Malonga, who is only 19 years old, became the highest-drafted player out of France in WNBA history on Monday night. Tony Parker once referred to her as the “female Victor Wembanyama.” She began her professional career in 2021 at the young age of just 15, helped her country to win a silver medal at the Olympics in Paris and later became the first Frenchwoman to dunk in an official game near the end of last season. There is a lot of hype about what the 6-foot-6 big can bring to the United States.

There is also a lot of concern amongst her new peers. They don’t want to end up on the wrong end of a poster!

Malonga will not be the first player to dunk in the WNBA. Eight different players have dunked a total of 38 times. Brittany Griner leads that stat category with 25 in-game dunks. Her record may not last long.

Dominique Malonga throws down with the utmost ease.

You would not know she is only 19 based on how she moves on the floor and that has been the case for almost three years now. This is a workout from 2022:

You definitely don’t want to be the one to step in front of her on her way to the rim.

Dunking comes easy.

Rickea Jackson will have to defend Malonga in the very near future. The Los Angeles Sparks forward is nervous. Not because she doesn’t look forward to the challenge. She doesn’t want to be on the wrong side of a historic moment for the W.

Lord please donโ€™t let me be the first WNBA player to get dunked on๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ. Amen

Indiana Fever point guard Sydney Colson has a different idea in mind. The two-time WNBA champion would actually love to see her friend be the first.

Lord please let Rickea be the first WNBA player to get dunked on๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ. Amen!

Although this widespread panic amongst Dominique Malonga defenders is a bit premature, it does feel inevitable. Someone is going to jump with her at the rim and end up on a historic, first-of-its-kind poster. Maybe not this year, but give it time. It will be a groundbreaking dunk that everybody will talk about forever. Rickea Jackson does NOT want to be any part of that conversation. She is definitely not alone!
