It’s been around a week since the world was alerted to an incident that unfolded between Draymond Green and Jordan Poole during practice, which the Warriors initially attempted to downplay before having their spot blown up when TMZ posted a video of the former absolutely clocking his teammate a couple of days later.

The clip was the textbook definition of “A Bad Look” for basically everyone involved, and while more than a few Professional Hot Take Purveyors placed part of the blame on Poole, Green obviously caught the bulk of the heat thanks to, you know, his inability to stop himself from punching his teammate in the face.

The veteran big man publically apologized to Poole over the weekend, although one insider has suggested the two men still have plenty of work to do when it comes to putting the altercation behind them.

As a result, you have to imagine Green isn’t exactly thrilled with what transpired on Monday night when his mom decided to enter the fray and come to her son’s defense on Twitter.

Draymond Green’s mom is not happy that people are using “sucker punch” to describe what went down between her son and Jordan Poole

Plenty of NBA fans and talking heads have deployed the “sucker punch” label to describe the blow Green delivered, although you could argue that’s not entirely accurate when you consider Poole technically initiated things by shoving his teammate before getting slugged.

It would appear Draymond Green’s mother Mary falls into that second camp, as she came to her son’s defense and clapped back at a Warriors fan who characterized it as a cheap shot by saying he simply “got shoved and reacted.”

It’s worth noting Mary has a fairly long history of chiming in online when it comes to matters concerning her son, so while this isn’t necessarily a huge surprise, it seems safe to assume Draymond would probably like to see her sit this one out.
