Dwight Howard Has Taken The Next Step In His Basketball Career And It’s Not What Anyone Would Have Predicted

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but Dwight Howard is a surefire, stone-cold lock for the Basketball Hall of Fame when he’s done playing.

Howard may be most known for his on and off-court antics, but at his best, he was nothing short of a dominant NBA center. The Atlanta native is an eight-time NBA All-Star, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, and he won an NBA championship with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.

But that prime is long gone. Howard hasn’t made an All-Star game since 2014 with the Houston Rockets and really hasn’t been a dominant force in the league since leaving the Orlando Magic in 2012.

So now he’s looking to the future. While he’s previously teased a potential move to the pro wrestling world and the WWE, it appears Howard has some unfinished business left on the basketball court.

Dwight Howard Signs For Taoyuan Leopards In Taiwan

With no NBA offers on the table, Howard was forced to look elsewhere. But he didn’t look at the Big 3 or even an NBA GLeague option. Instead, he’s going across the world to play for the Taoyuan Leopards of the Taiwanese T1 League.

The team announced Howard’s signing in an Instagram post.

“I am so so excited, and I can’t wait to touch down in Taiwan and start playing,” said in the post. “I’m coming with open arms, with big hugs and big smiles.”

Howard averaged 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game as a rotation player a year ago. And if Tacko Fall’s recent success overseas is any indication, the former All-Star could be in for a dominant season.

Basketball fans were surprised to hear the news of Howard’s next step. But many of them are excited to see how it turns out.

Maybe he’ll even that Taiwanese League MVP to his impressive resume.
