The NFL Week 2 matchup at Jerry World between rivals Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants wasn’t a particularly good look for the NFC East. The Cowboys won at home, beating the Giants 13-20, and the Dallas defense managed to knock quarterback Eli Manning on his ass four times in the first half alone.

After the Giants got shutout in the first half they put up 3 in the 3rd and 10 in the 14th to at least put some pressure on the ‘Boys. A major part of why the Giants got shutout in the first half was because the Cowboys were getting pressure on New York Giants QB Eli Manning. He got sacked 4 times in the first 30 minutes of play which clearly threw him off his game.

The images that emerged of Eli’s shocked face after getting pancaked into the ground became an instant meme. Unfortunately for meme aficionados and NFL fans alike, this ‘Eli’s Face After Getting Sacked Meme’ was lost in the hubbub of yesterday because Ryan Fitzmagic of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stole the show by borrowing a teammate’s outfit to wear in the post-game press conference.

You can check out all the best Ryan Fitzpatrick Memesby hitting that link but we’re here to talk about Eli Manning and look at the best memes of his shocked face as he struggles to comprehend what just happened after getting sacked.

Firstly, here’s the image that launched the Eli Manning memes. Just soak it in for a moment and take a look at that face:

That’s a perfectly meme-able face. And the Eli Manning Sack Face memes came in pretty quickly. Let’s check out some of the best.

Can we bring back the *record scratch, freeze frame* meme? It had way too short of a lifespan.

This is accurate AF:

Eli Manning’s face is forever in the Football Meme Hall of Fame.

I can’t believe we almost watched a man die on national TV.

There were also a million tweets from the game about how Eli Manning has no excuses when he’s throwing to an incredibly talented collection of wide receivers, which seems silly because it’s not like he can hit his targets if he’s getting knocked on his ass during every play.

Elsewhere in the league, the reigning Super Bowl champs Philadelphia Eagles lost on the road to the red-hot Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Washington Redskins lost at home to the Indianapolis Colts. All in all, it was a pretty dismal day for the NFC East.

If it wasn’t only Week 2 I’d say we should start wondering if this is one of the weakest divisions in the NFL this season but we need 3 or 4 more weeks before we can start discussing things like that in earnest.
