Former ESPN analyst Matt Miller, who lost his arm in a near-fatal car accident, has entered a not guilty plea to charges made against him in Missouri. Meanwhile, a separate investigation into his alleged participation in a fantasy football “scam” is ongoing.

Miller is charged with a misdemeanor for failing to drive on the proper side of the road, which led to the June collision. The network put him on leave in July.

The crash occurred near Smithton, Missouri, on U.S. Route 50 when Miller’s SUV was struck head-on by a semi-truck after he crossed the centerline, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Dashcam video appeared to show the semi-truck trying to avoid Miller’s approaching car, but it couldn’t move quickly enough, and the two vehicles collided.

Due to severe damage to the driver’s side of his 2023 Ford Bronco, paramedics had to fly Matt Miller to Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

“As a result of the accident, I sustained significant injuries, including multiple fractures and broken ribs. I also underwent a life-saving amputation of my left arm. While I have a long road ahead, I’m focused on my recovery and taking things one day at a time,” Matt Miller wrote on social media after the crash.

Now, according to a Daily Mail report, the 43-year-old Miller pleaded not guilty and waived a formal arraignment. He will next appear in court on December 8 for a pre-trial conference. If found guilty, the Class A misdemeanor carries a $2,000 fine and a maximum sentence of one year in jail.

Matt Miller was reportedly under investigation by the Missouri Attorney General

In July, Matt Miller’s GoFundMe was paused amid an investigation by the Missouri Attorney General after numerous people claimed they had participated in what Miller advertised as charity fantasy football leagues.

Miller allegedly failed to pay out winners or took an extraordinary amount of time to do so. Others who paid the entry fee complained that they never received any league or draft information.

Awful Announcing reported that many of the 91 leagues Matt Miller oversaw during the 2025 football season never even made it to a draft, and the platform ultimately banned him. Miller acknowledged the ban, but attributed the issues to extensive hacking.

Another accuser claimed they paid Miller $500 to sign up for football scouting sessions, which were advertised as benefiting charity, but they never received any lessons. Several other people filed similar complaints, some of whom reportedly paid considerably more.

Because of the crash and subsequent unfavorable attention, the Missouri Attorney General become aware of the complaints. In July, a representative from the office said Matt Miller was under investigation.

“The Missouri Attorney General’s Office encourages consumers who believe they have been misled to contact us,” the office said in a statement to USA Today. “Attorney General Hanaway takes consumer protection very seriously, and we will work diligently to uncover the facts.”
