Welcome to Week 14! Most importantly, welcome to the start of the playoffs. You may have dealt with injuries, busts, and bad breaks, but none of that matters now because this is win or go home time.

I’m going to give you some advice: Keep doing what got you here!

Play your top players regardless of matchup. This is where I help you make some of the tougher decisions.

Here are my starts and sits for Week 14.

Quarterback Starts Of The Week

Carson Wentz vs. New York Giants (Monday)

If you looked on social media, you would think the loss to the Dolphins last week was all Wentz’s fault and needs to be left for dead, but he threw for 315 yards and had three touchdowns.

Wentz has a passing touchdown in every game this season, that streak will continue against the Giants who are allowing 1.5 touchdowns per-game and 20.4 fantasy points-per-game.

Ryan Tannehill at Oakland Raiders

I featured Tannehill in my playoff preview last week for these reasons. He has at least 18 fantasy points in five of his six starts, and he’s facing an Oakland defense that is allowing the fourth-most points to quarterbacks with 21.2.

Other Quarterbacks To Start

Baker Mayfield, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Sam Darnold, Jameis Winston, Kirk Cousins

Quarterback Sleeper Of The Week

Devlin Hodges at Arizona Cardinals

Hodges hasn’t blown up the fantasy world in his two starts this season. He has that chance this week against the Cardinals who are allowing an NFL worse 24.7 points-per-game to quarterbacks and let the struggling Jared Goff throw for 424 yards last week.

Quarterback Sits Of The Week

Mitch Trubisky vs. Dallas Cowboy (Thursday)

Don’t let the facade of Trubsiky’s last two performances fool you; he faced the Giants and Lions, two defenses that are in the bottom 10 in the league, allowing over 20 points-per-game.

He has four starts against top 10 defenses this season; in those starts, he’s averaging nine points-per-game. Dallas is currently eighth.

Gardner Minshew vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Minshew Mania or #Minsanity (I will always try to make this a thing) is back. After a dud performance by Nick Foles last week, the Jags were quick to give him the hook in favor of their rookie quarterback.

I don’t think he’s someone to start this week if you’re looking to advance in the playoffs. On the bright side, if you have a bye and want to look at quarterback to play in the future, Minshew is someone I like.

Other Quarterbacks To Sit

Eli Manning (Monday), Jimmy Garoppollo, Philip Rivers, Drew Brees, Jared Goff

Quarterback Bust Of The Week

Derek Carr at Tennesse Titans

Carr has struggled the last two weeks, averaging just 8.4 fantasy points. He gets a tough road matchup this week against the Titans who are allowing the fourth-lowest fantasy points to the quarterback at home this year.

Wide Receiver Starts Of The Week

Zach Pascal at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Pascal finally had that breakout game last week with 109 receiving yards in what wasn’t the ideal matchup.

This week he gets an ideal matchup in Tampa Bay who are allowing an NFL worse 204 yards-per-game to receivers this year.

D.K. Metcalf at Los Angeles Rams

Metcalf has been a solid number two option for Russell Wilson this year, and over the last few weeks has outperformed Tyler Lockett.

He looks to play an important factor this week in LA with the possibly of Lockett getting covered by Jalen Ramsey.

Other Wide Receivers To Start

DeVante Parker, Alshon Jeffery (Monday), D.J. Moore, Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage

Wide Receiver Sleeper Of The Week

James Washington at Arizona Cardinals

Did you know Devlin Hodges and Washington go duck hunting together? It won’t be too hard for Washington to hunt for fantasy points this week against the Cardinals, who are allowing 25.4 points-per-game to wide receivers.

Wide Receiver Sits Of The Week

Emmanuel Sanders at New Orleans Saints

Sanders has been struggling since his Week 9 breakout against Arizona: he only has one game with over 40 receiving yards since. He may still be hindered from that rib injury.

He has a tough matchup in the Super Dome as he may see a lot of Marshon Lattimore this week.

Tyrell Williams vs. Tennesse Titans

Williams has disappeared over the last few weeks, including just 27 receiving yards in the previous two games.

He’s been a touchdown-dependent receiver all year, and his connection with Derek Carr has diminished as the team has recently struggled.

Other Wide Receivers To Sit

Terry McLaurin, Marquise Brown, Will Fuller, Allen Robinson (Thursday), Michael Gallup (Thursday)

Wide Receiver Bust Of The Week

Brandin Cooks vs. Seattle Seahawks

It’s been a 2019 campaign Cooks wants to forget; he hasn’t seen more than four targets in his last five games.

He’s dropping down depth behind Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp, and Gerald Everett/Tyler Higbee. He’s a sit in an offense that isn’t matchup friendly.

Running Back Starts Of The Week

Devonta Freeman vs. Carolina Panthers

Freeman as a rusher has struggled this year, his 42.2 rushing yards-per-game is 35th, but he’s 13th in receiving yards-per-game and third in receiving touchdowns amongst running backs.

He gets a Carolina defense that has allowed 19 rushing touchdowns, most in the NFL. Good week for him to get his first rushing touchdown of 2019.

Phillip Lindsay vs. Denver Broncos

Lindsay is experiencing the sophomore slump, including just one double-digit game in his last six.

This week though, I like him as a flex starter this week against the Texans who have allowed a top 10 running back in three consecutive weeks.

Other Running Backs To Start

David Montgomery (Thursday), Benny Snell, Kareem Hunt, Derrius Guice

Running Back Sleeper Of The Week

James White vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Tom Brady is struggling to trust anyone this Pats offense, except Julian Edelman and White.

In a possible shootout this week, White will likely see the most action in the backfield. Kansas City is allowing the second-most fantasy points and the third-most receiving touchdowns to running backs.

Running Back Sits Of The Week

Tevin Coleman at New Orleans Saints

Ever since the game against where had 105 rushing yards and four total touchdowns, Coleman has dropped off. In the last four games, he’s averaging just 29 rushing yards and has not found the endzone.

The matchup this week does not help as the Saints are allowing only 88.6 rushing yards-per-game, third-fewest, and the fourth-fewest fantasy points-per-game to running backs. You add the touches he’ll lose to Raheem Mostert, he’s a sit this week.

Ronald Jones vs. Indianapolis Colts

We saw all those lovely red zone carries go to Peyton Barber last week. Bruce Arians said this week says Jones is ‘still the starter.”

Are you serious????? This is already a bad matchup against the Colts who are allowing the fifth-fewest amount of fantasy points to running backs, plus he’ll probably lose more carries to Barber, and maybe the Bucs will sign Cadillac Williams just for fun.

Other Running Backs To Sit

Devin Singletary, Bo Scarbrough, Kenyan Drake, LeSean McCoy, Carlos Hyde

Running Back Bust Of The Week

Jonathan Williams at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Williams served as the lead running back in the two games following the injury to Marlon Mack. However, last week, he was out-touched by Jordan Wilkins and only had 1.8 yards per-rush.

This week he goes up against a Buccaneers defense that is allowing an NFL fewest 60.2 rushing yards-per-game and a second-fewest 3.4 rushing yards per attempt. I’m staying away from all Indianapolis backs this week.

Tight End Starts Of The Week

Mike Gesicki vs. New York Jets

In what was not a good matchup on paper, Gesicki had a touchdown and his second-best receiving performance of the year. What game was his best? His 95 yards against the Jets.

Jack Doyle at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

With no Eric Ebron last week, Doyle finished as the TE3 in PPR. He’s primed for another top finish against the Bucs who are allowing the second-highest points-per-game against the position and the third-highest yards per-touch.

Other Tight Ends To Sit

Greg Olsen, Kyle Rudolph, Jacob Hollister, Ryan Griffin, Tyler Higbee

Tight End Sleeper Of The Week

Vance McDonald at Arizona Cardinals

It was supposed to be a promising year for McDonald, but his production took a hit with the loss of Ben Roethlisberger.

If you’re looking for a streamer in the first round of the playoffs, McDonald is a great option. He’s facing an Arizona defense who has been awful against tight ends this year; they allowed Rams’ backup Tyler Higbee to have 107 receiving yards and a touchdown last week.

Tight End Sits Of The Week

Mark Andrews at Buffalo Bills

A touchdown saved Andrews from having a let down of a game. He gets another tough matchup, this time on the road in Buffalo against a defense that has allowed one touchdown to a tight at home this season.

Jimmy Graham vs. Washington Redskins

The matchup looks good, but Graham doesn’t as he has just one game with double-digit points since Week 5. You can’t trust him with your season on the line.

Other Tight Ends To Sit

Darren Fells, Dawson Knox, O.J. Howard, Tyler Eifert, Jaeden Graham

Tight End Bust Of The Week

Jonnu Smith vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

It looked as if Smith was to take over after Delanie Walker went down, but that hasn’t been the case.

Since Week 9, he’s averaging 3.6 fantasy points-per-game, that put him at TE43. In an offense that relies on the run, it’s tough to see Smith getting enough opportunities to make an impact.
