The North Carolina State Wolfpack came into the 2022 college football season with some sky-high expectations. The Wolfpack went 9-3 in 2021 and returned one of the quarterbacks in the country in Devin Leary. Couple that with a down Atlantic Coast Conference and the Pack and head coach Dave Doeren had legitimate College Football Playoff aspirations.

Unfortunately, things haven’t exactly worked out that way. Leary suffered a torn pec against Florida State on Oct. 8 that cost him the rest of the season. At that point, NC State was 5-1 and still alive in the race for the ACC. But they’ve since gone just 2-2 under backup QB MJ Morris. The Pack now sits at 7-3 with a pair of regular season games remaining.

But despite all the adversity, it turns out Doeren has had to deal with much more off-the-field trouble than anyone could have possibly known.

Former NC State Player Arrested For Allegedly Stalking Wolfpack Coach Dave Doeren

Defensive lineman Joseph Boletepeli spent the first two years of his college career with NC State. He then transferred to the University of Maryland. But apparently, Boletepeli still held some bad blood for his time in Raleigh. ESPN’s David Hale reports that Boletepeli was arrested this week and charged with misdemeanor stalking and communicating threats to Wolfpack head coach Dave Doeren.

The arrest comes after an alleged tweet from Boletepeli saying “Imma get him I promise. Dave Doeren and the rest.” The former Wolfpack player was also charged with resisting arrest. Investigators claim he pulled away from officers who tried to handcuff him.

Local news station WRAL reports that investigators “said Boletepeli went to Doeren’s place of work several times and sent threats through text message to Doeren and several staff members.”

As if the life of a college football head coach wasn’t hectic enough already.
