Mike Perry and Eddie Alvarez are set to square in bare-knuckle boxing, and things are already getting spicy.

On Wednesday, BKFC announced that the two former UFC fighters will headline their December 2nd card in Salt Lake City, Utah.

After the announcement, Perry and Alvarez exchanged some words during an appearance on Ariel Helwaniā€™s MMA Hour show.

Perry started things off by saying that heā€™s ā€œsteps aboveā€ his opponent and believes fighting Alvarez is ā€œeasy money.ā€

ā€œEddie Alvarez, I appreciate the match-up,ā€ said Perry. ā€œI think youā€™re a little crazy for this to be your match-up, especially saying you wanted this fight first. You had a little banger with Chad Mendes, but Iā€™m definitely steps above that, so Iā€™m excited. And youā€™re looking kind of thick, so Iā€™m excited to see what my punches do to that flubber.

ā€œHeā€™s beaten some great competition [like] Rafael Dos Anjos,ā€ continued Perry. ā€œThereā€™s other guys that he shouldnā€™t have beaten, that people look at and theyā€™re like, ā€˜How?ā€™ I know I look at them, and Iā€™m like, ā€˜Damn, I canā€™t believe he got wins over those guys. Heā€™s been in the game a long time. I donā€™t think this is a great matchup for him in boxing. I think what Conor McGregor did to him with the hands ā€” and thatā€™s after he beat Rafael dos Anjos. And itā€™s bare-knuckle. Chad messed his face up pretty good. I just think ā€” Iā€™ll take it, man. Easy work. Easy money.ā€

Alvarez took exception to Perryā€™s ā€œeasy moneyā€ comment and fired back.

ā€œIā€™ve never been easy money, and heā€™s knows that.ā€ ā€œHe knows thatā€™s silly to even say. Every fight Iā€™ve been in in this manner, Iā€™ve won. Iā€™ve won them all. Iā€™m not going to lie, the guy is big and scary. Heā€™s big and scary to everyone. Even to myself. And thatā€™s what gets me up at night, thatā€™s what makes me excited about this match-up.

ā€œHeā€™s hittable, heā€™s big, heā€™s clunky, heā€™s very hittable, and when he goes against smaller guys, he does worse,ā€ continued Alvarez. ā€œThe bigger and slower his opponent gets, the better he does. Iā€™m not a big, slow opponent. Iā€™m fast, Iā€™m going to move, and Iā€™m going to hit you a lot. And at 175, I donā€™t hit like the lightweight I used to fight at. At 175, these shots are going to come hard and heavy.ā€
