Despite the fact that they’re now “down” to their third-string quarterback Brock Purdy, the San Francisco 49ers absolutely steamrolled the struggling Tampa Bay Bucs on Sunday afternoon by a score of 35-7.
And while the San Francisco 49ers players were obviously enjoying themselves on the field — routing another team is about as much fun as a group of professional athletes can have while on the job — their friends and family were having just as much fun off of it, too, as evidenced by this video shared by George Kittle’s wife Claire.
As things currently stand, the 9-4 Niners are the #3 seed in the NFC behind the Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings. If the season were to end today, the Niners would win the NFC West and they’d face off against the Washington Commanders in the first round of the NFC playoffs. To close out their 2022 regular season schedule, the Brock Purdy-led San Francisco 49ers will take on the Seattle Seahawks, Washington Commanders, Las Vegas Raiders, and Arizona Cardinals.
Their obvious struggles this season aside — did Tom Brady really get divorced *for this* — the Tampa Bay Bucs are currently leading the NFC South and will host a Wild Card round playoff game at Raymond James Stadium if they win the division. To close out their 2022 season, the Bucs will face off against the Cincinnati Bengals, Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers, and Atlanta Falcons.
Despite the season-long musical chairs at quarterback, the 29-year-old Kittle has largely maintained his elite tight end production as he’s reeled in 42 catches for 500 yards and four touchdowns so far this season (Kittle didn’t make his season debut until September 25 against the Denver Broncos).
