Over the weekend, UFC Hall of Famer Georges St-Pierre shared on social media that he has killed a bear. Shortly thereafter, he was inundated with complaints about it. Rather than sit idly by and take the criticisms, St-Pierre would fire back at the people that didn’t like it, saying the hunt was legal and ethical.

“Before tonight, I had never killed a fly,” Georges St-Pierre wrote in a post on X (Twitter) alongside a photo of himself and the dead bear. This is proof that we are living in a simulation.”

One of the top responses to his post asked, “Why? Bear meat is disgusting.” St-Pierre responded back, “It’s my favorite meat.”

Back on May 28, Georges St-Pierre wrote in another post on X, “I ate bear meat for the first time in my life and it was delicious. However, it wasn’t my bear.”

Another comment on the Ultimate Fighting Championship two-division champion’s bear post included one person telling him, “You’re disgusting. A murderer.”

“Nothing to brag about, big L,” someone else wrote. St-Pierre was also told, “There is nothing more inhumane than killing an animal for pleasure, not for survival. Welcome to the monsters club.”

“Love you, but unfollowed and now despised,” read another comment that was similar to many others.

In response to all of the negativity he received about his bear hunting post, Georges St-Pierre replied, “I don’t understand why some people don’t seem to be concerned about inhumane poultry and meat factories, but are outraged by controlled and legal hunting for organic meat.”

“I wouldn’t try to rationalize the irrational @GeorgesStPierre,” one fan replied back. “The way a lot of people think is total lunacy. … What we are experiencing today is called Mass Hysteria. Congrats on the bear, I hope you are learning how to use every bit of it.”

Georges St-Pierre then wrote back, “They would rather it gets chased to death by wolves or coyotes and eaten alive. Rather than you enjoying organic meat with your family.”

As one might expect, after his responses to the criticism, those that had no problem with what St-Pierre did continued to have no problem with it and those who did have a problem with it were in no way swayed by his argument. In other words, it was typical social media in 2025.
