Lamont Roach may have to wait a bit if he wants to fight Gervonta Davis again. On Saturday night, Roach, a -1600 underdog, defied the odds and took Davis to a majority draw.
Many felt Roach should have won the fight after ref Steve Willis refused to rule Davis down despite the superstar boxer’s decision to take a knee in the ninth round so that his team could wipe his face.

Despite all the controversy, Davis said he would not grant Roach an immediate rematch because he already has an opponent lined up.
“It’s definitely what I want next, but it’s not going to be next.”

Veteran boxing reporter Keith Idec called B.S. on Davis and said Roach is contractually committed to an immediate rematch.

“Lamont Roach is contractually committed to an immediate rematch with Gervonta Davis through TGB Promotions. A summer stadium fight in Baltimore, D.C. or anywhere in the DMV should be next. Right after the NYSAC addresses WTF happened early in the 9th round.”
We’ll have to wait and see how everything plays out for Roach, but it’s unclear if he wants to press for an immediate rematch.
