Saturday’s halftime show at the University of Hawaii at Manoa was a little bit different than most. A large dog violently attacked a man as part of a military display on Veteran’s Day.

Air Force traveled west to Honolulu to face the Rainbow Warriors in a crucial Mountain West matchup for both teams. The visitors are trying to hit the 10-win mark on the season while the home team is trying to reach bowl eligibility.

Not only were the U.S. Armed Forces in town, it timed perfectly with the annual day on which we honor them. All of the stars aligned.

Thus, at halftime, there was a unique opportunity to showcase some of the Air Force’s operations. Specifically, it was a chance to display the impressive abilities of the Belgian Malinois, an extremely athletic herding dog that is used exclusively by the United States military.

To do so, in lieu of an outside performer or marching band, things took a unique twist. A military working dog bite demonstration saw a well-padded man get violently attacked by the very good boy.

As awesome as marching bands can be, it might be time to go a different route. Seeing a 60/80-pound dog run 30 yards to chase down a guy dressed like the Michelin Man and rip him to the ground is electric. Every school in the country should implement the dog bite demonstration in between the second and third quarters of every college football game.

The dogs are veterans too and they deserve their shine!

Unfortunately, Air Force lost the game and fell to 8-2. However, that does not take away from the very good doggo who deserves all of the boops for attacking that man with force and precision.

Very few halftime performances are as exhilarating as what happened on Saturday in Hawaii. And the way that the broadcast approached the demonstration made it even funnier.
