Arbor View is the second-ranked high school baseball team in the state of Nevada. It will have to climb its way back through the losers bracket if it wants to play for a state championship this weekend.
The Aggies were forced to forfeit a dominant victory during the second round for undislosed reasons.
Although their high school baseball season did not come to an end with the unexplained punishment, it creates a much harder path to the championship. They must now go on a run!
Arbor View is having a tremendous high school baseball season.
Established in 2005, Arbor View High School is part of the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada. It enrolls more than 3,000 students in Grades 9-12 as one of the largest schools in the state.
The Aggies finished the high school baseball regular season with an impressive overall record of 27-6 to earn a First Round bye in the NIAA Class 5A playoffs as the No. 2 seed. They are only ranked behind perennial powerhouse Bishop Gorman, ahead of Basic and Centennial. Basic was suddenly removed from the postseason bracket just a few hours before first pitch due to the use of an ineligible athlete. Bishop Gorman, Centennial and Arbor View are the clear favorites to play for a championship.
The playoffs started at the end of last week. The Aggies played their first game on Thursday evening.
Arbor View defeated Desert Oasis by a score of 7-2 to advance to the semifinals in the winner’s bracket. However, the result did not count.
A mysterious forfeiture shook up the playoffs.
The Aggies were forced to forfeit their win during the second round. Neither the school nor the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association revealed the reason for the mysterious unexplained ruling.
“We served our penalty for that by a forfeit and we’re moving on and we expect to play five (more) games and make it to the state tournament still,” head coach Tony Girod said. “I believe that these boys have faced all kinds of adversity all year and I believe that they’re the right group to face this.”
Arbor View dropped into the losers bracket as a result of the vacated victory. It must now win five games in seven days to reach the state championship and seven games in eight days to win the two-game championship series. It won its first game in the losers bracket on Saturday against Liberty.
The Aggies defeated Patriots by a score of 11-0. Devin Martin went 3-for-3 with four RBIs. LSU baseball commit Colton Christman threw a no-hitter with six strikeouts in five innings. He was dominant.
His performance puts Arbor View just six games away from the crown. Here is the schedule:

The Aggies are well positioned to win their way through the losers bracket. It seems like a matchup against Bishop Gorman and/or Centennial is inevitable.
