Iowa Hawkeyes‘ kicker Aaron Blom is facing accusations of underage betting on his own team’s games using his mother’s account, according to John Steppe of TheGazette.

The Johnson County Attorney’s Office filed a criminal complaint on Tuesday, outlining the charges against Blom.

According to the complaint, the young kicker placed approximately 170 sports wagers while being underage. Among these wagers was a bet on an Iowa football game.

The court document specifically points to the 2021 Iowa-Iowa State football game, where Blom allegedly bet on the “under total points.” Moreover, the complaint reveals that he made around eight bets on Iowa sporting events, including games featuring his own team.

The total amount wagered on the 170 alleged bets sums up to more than $4,400 before his 21st birthday, as stated in the criminal complaint.

To carry out these bets, Blom is accused of using an account that was registered under his mother’s name, effectively disguising his identity.

The bets were reportedly placed on the DraftKings sportsbook.

Both Aaron Blom and his mother appear to have cooperated with the investigation, as mentioned in the complaint. Furthermore, it is asserted that Blom’s mother was aware of and gave her consent to the wagers made using her account.

An Iowa football spokesman did not immediately comment on the allegations to TheGazette.

Aaron Blom remained on the team’s online roster, as of Wednesday morning, per Steppe.
