Despite being surrounded by water on all sides, The Bahamas is not known for its great surfing aside from the occasional swell brought in by hurricanes. Thankfully for Ivanka Trump and others seeking out a surfing experience in The Bahamas, luxury resorts like Baha Mar in Nassau have top-of-the-line wave pools.

I call out Ivanka Trump specifically because she showed off her surfing skills in a recent Instagram post that has caught the attention of the surfing world. She shared two still images and a video.

In the second still image, Ivanka can be seen brutally wiping out in the Baha Mar wave pool but in the third slide of the gallery the former President’s second-born shows off a video where she flexes her surfing skills. Slide to the right in the Instagram gallery to see Ivanka wipe out and see her video:

The video can also be seen on YouTube where it appears to have been taken from Instagram and shared by Sky News Australia:

For the curious, the surfing simulator at Baha Mar can be found in the Baha Bay section of the resort and it’s a FlowRider simulator.

These top-of-the-line wave simulators can cost anywhere from $500,000 up to $5,000,000 depending on the size and scale of the simulator being built.

Do they perfectly mirror surfing in the ocean? Absolutely not. There’s no paddling around and waiting for sets to roll through. But the size and shape of the waves is customizable when building FlowRider simulators.

They’re not something that rich people have built at home, though I’m sure there’s at least a handful of the ultra-wealthy around the world who have them at home.

But they’re perfect for resorts and cruise ships where people can enjoy the thrill of surfing without getting in the ocean.
