After the Jaguars’ 34-3 loss to the 49ers on Sunday, former NFL star turned analyst Richard Sherman didn’t hold back when talking about Trevor Lawrence’s performance.

Lawrence, who was the golden boy from the 2021 NFL Draft, getting picked 1st overall, is under scrutiny despite the Jaguars 6-3 record this season.

On Twitter, Sherman took a shot at Lawrence being touted as a generational talent and said, “So when I make an assessment that Trevor Lawrence hasn’t been the generational talent he was billed to be coming out of Clemson, Jags fans were up in arms. The tape doesn’t lie. The team has won because the defense has gotten turnovers.”

He wasn’t wrong in pointing out Lawrence’s struggle with ball security. With two interceptions and a fumble in the 49ers loss, Lawrence’s turnover count for the season has exceeded the touchdown amount. Sherman wrote: “At this point Trevor Lawrence has more turnovers than TDs on the season. Despite that, his team has been winning. He has all the talent in the world; however, that has not been showcased consistently.”

In nine games this season, Lawrence has thrown six interceptions and fumbled seven times for a total of 13, while only managing nine touchdowns.

And there’s another twist here, as the last pick in the 2022 Draft, Brock Purdy outplayed 1st pick Lawrence in the game. Purdy was 19 of 26 passing, with three touchdowns and zero interceptions.
