If you’ve paid any attention at all to their ongoing saga, it’s not hard to tell that Jake Paul and Tommy Fury dont particularly like one another.
The child actor turned YouTube star turned influencer turned boxer turned MMA fighter has had plenty of criticism of Fury in the past.
While the significantly less famous brother of heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury hasn’t been exactly complimentary of Paul.
The two were first scheduled to fight in December of 2021. But that fight was called off due to an injury and subsequent infection to Fury. No matter. They then scheduled a new fight for August of 2022. That fight, too, was called off after Fury reportedly had issues getting into the country.
But have no fear, YouTuber fight fans. Because this one is finally going to happen. The third time is the charm.
Jake Paul And Tommy Fury Set Third Fight Date For February
ESPN’s Marc Raimondi reports that Paul and Fury have agreed to a third fight date, this time outside of US borders.
Paul, the YouTube star-turned-boxer, and Fury will meet Feb. 26 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, officials told ESPN on Friday. The anticipated event, which had initially been reported to take place Feb. 25, will partner with Top Rank and broadcast digitally in the United States on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
Raimondi also states that the fight is scheduled for eight rounds and will be contested at 185 pounds. Both fighters are undefeated in their short careers. Paul is 6-0 with three knockouts, while Fury is 8-0 and has the most extensive resume of anyone Paul has fought to this point.
Paul, ever the opportunist, offered a statement shortly after the news broke.
“The moment of truth has finally arrived,” Paul said in a statement. “On Feb. 26, I will get in the ring with a ‘real boxer,’ an 8-0 fighter from a storied fighting family and show the world the truth about who Jake Paul, the boxer really is.”
It appears that 14 months after it was initially set to take place, we’re finally get a Paul-Fury fight. What will get in the way of it happening this time around? Nobody knows.
